Have a new puppy? Do you want to make sure you're starting them out on the right track? Every Friday here at Tarheel Canine we have Puppy Preschool. Puppy Preschool is similar to a doggy daycare or a day boarding environment where puppies can come to school while you go to work and get the right socialization and introduction to obedience behaviors at a crucial age where learning is rapidly occurring. This includes confidence building, socializing with dogs and people, potty training, crate training, and more. Bring your puppy to a school of professional dog trainers and allow us to start your puppy on the road to becoming a happy, confident, and well behaved dog!
For information on potty training your puppy visit Puppy Fridays page!
Derek has been in the dog training industry since 2015. After graduating Starmark Academy’s 12-week program and earning the title of Canine Training and Behavioral Specialist. After graduating he returned home to work as the head trainer at a daycare facility and lead their training program. When he was not training, he helped supervise the daycare’s socialization groups, which ranged from 30 – 60 dogs a day. Upon leaving the daycare, he started a successful business with his brother, who also graduated Starmark’s 12-week program, where they worked with all different breeds, ages, and temperaments of dogs. Their business was structured to be more like a school for dogs rather than a daycare, with the dogs going home with their owners at the end of each day. Their “Dayschool” was extremely popular and always had a waiting list to get in. The main focus of the “Dayschool” was based around teaching dog’s obedience, structure in a home like setting, and how to make better decisions. Derek then went back to Starmark Academy as an instructor at their school for dog trainers, where he spent 3 years teaching students how to become successful dog trainers. A big focus of his is to teach owner’s how to communicate with their dogs in a clear way and improve their overall relationship with their dog.
